PVA Duties

The Grant County Property Valuation Administrator is a locally elected official charged with assessing all property, both real and personal that is located in Grant County. There are some exceptions for property not assessed by the PVA such as public service companies, bank shares, vehicles, and boats. These values are assigned by the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet in Frankfort.

The PVA and their deputies can change vehicle values according to January 1st NADA value for high mileage or with repair estimates from automobile body shops, so please stop by our office BEFORE  paying your vehicle taxes at the county clerk’s office, to see if we could possibly lower your assessment!

Your Property Valuation Administrator’s Office does not determine how much taxes you pay. We only assess the “Fair Market Value” of the property. The PVA does not set property tax rates nor do they collect property taxes. The Kentucky Constitution requires equality and uniformity through fair cash value assessments. Fair Cash Value is defined as the price that a piece of property will bring in a fair voluntary sale between a willing seller and a willing buyer.

Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that your assessments are fair, equitable, and as low as the state allows them to be legally. If you have any specific questions or concerns about the duties of your PVA and the office in general, please call our office at (859)824-6511, Email Eli at Elliott.Anderson@ky.gov or reach out to us on our facebook page @grantpva.
